Tool Maker
Job Description
Our client is looking for a hardworking, motivated, experienced Tool Maker to join their team. The Tool Maker is responsible for producing precision components, tooling, prototypes, and production parts using a variety of manual and CNC machines. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in precision machining, problem solving, and working with complex mechanical systems.
Location: South Windham, CT
Hours: 1st or 2nd Shift
Pay Range: $33 - $43/hr.
What’s the Job?
- Good organizational, work planning and documentation skills.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
- Proficient in the use of calipers, micrometers, and visual comparators to evaluate critical drawing dimensions.
- Operate common machine shop equipment including manual lathes, Proto TRAK CNC Milling Machines, Proto TRAK CNC Turning Machines, horizontal, and vertical band saws.
- Operate your machines to grind, cut, and polish the materials.
- Finish projects using manual tools.
- Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure they remain in good working order.
What’s Needed?
- Minimum Education – High School diploma or GED
- 5+ years of experience as a Tool Maker, Tool & Die Maker, or Precision Machinist.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
- Lathe machining experience.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes and equipment.
