We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Permanent Safety & Occupational Health Specialist to join our team. This role is integral to the safety and well-being of our employees and requires a high level of commitment, expertise, and passion for creating a safe and healthy work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety and occupational health, with a proven track record of implementing effective safety programs and procedures. Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Safety & Occupational Health Specialist, your core responsibilities will include:
1. Developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
2. Conducting regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
3. Providing safety training and education to all employees, including CPR, First Aid, and Forklift operation.
4. Managing and maintaining records of all safety-related incidents and conducting thorough investigations to prevent recurrence.
5. Collaborating with management and employees to promote awareness and understanding of safety and occupational health policies and procedures.
6. Preparing and presenting regular safety reports to management, highlighting trends, and suggesting improvements.
7. Responding to emergency situations and coordinating with emergency response teams as necessary.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate for the Permanent Safety & Occupational Health Specialist role will have:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
3. Certifications including Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER), and Forklift Certified Trainer (can be obtained after hire).
4. Proficiency in CPR and First Aid.
5. Excellent knowledge of federal and state safety and health regulations, including OSHA standards.
6. Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively deliver training and presentations.
7. Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards.
8. A proactive approach to safety and health, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
