Personal Injury Litigation Associate Attorney Requirements & Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) and Pennsylvania Bar admission required
- 4–5 years of civil litigation experience
- Strong experience taking and defending depositions
- Experience drafting and responding to discovery and motions
- Ability to manage cases independently from discovery through resolution
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication skills
Personal Injury Litigation Associate Attorney Preferred Background & Skills
- Background in personal injury, general liability, or civil litigation
- Trial experience (first- or second-chair) preferred
- Experience in a law firm setting handling a full caseload
- Proficiency with legal research tools (Westlaw, Lexis), document management systems, and case management software
- Professional, client-facing demeanor with strong interpersonal skills
- Collaborative, low-ego, team-oriented mindset
Personal Injury Litigation Associate Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Take and defend depositions of clients, witnesses, and experts
- Draft and respond to discovery, including interrogatories and document production
- Draft, file, and argue motions, including dispositive and pre-trial motions
- Prepare cases for trial, including strategy development, witness preparation, and exhibit organization
- Participate in trial (first- or second-chair opportunities based on experience)
- Communicate directly with clients and contribute to case strategy
- Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and insurance adjusters
- 1800 billable hours
