Personal Injury Litigation Associate Attorney Requirements & Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) and Pennsylvania Bar admission required
  • 4–5 years of civil litigation experience
  • Strong experience taking and defending depositions
  • Experience drafting and responding to discovery and motions
  • Ability to manage cases independently from discovery through resolution
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and communication skills

Personal Injury Litigation Associate Attorney Preferred Background & Skills

  • Background in personal injury, general liability, or civil litigation
  • Trial experience (first- or second-chair) preferred
  • Experience in a law firm setting handling a full caseload
  • Proficiency with legal research tools (Westlaw, Lexis), document management systems, and case management software
  • Professional, client-facing demeanor with strong interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative, low-ego, team-oriented mindset

Personal Injury Litigation Associate Attorney Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Take and defend depositions of clients, witnesses, and experts
  • Draft and respond to discovery, including interrogatories and document production
  • Draft, file, and argue motions, including dispositive and pre-trial motions
  • Prepare cases for trial, including strategy development, witness preparation, and exhibit organization
  • Participate in trial (first- or second-chair opportunities based on experience)
  • Communicate directly with clients and contribute to case strategy
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel and insurance adjusters
  • 1800 billable hours
